Quest for glory paladin import file

Yes, you can import from 1 all the way through 5. Stats carry over directly up through 3. Once you import to 4, the game automatically ups your almost all of your stats to minimum levels.

The only stats that do not get automatically get bounced to starting game levels are Magic and all Spell skill levels. Healing items and a few other things do carry over.

For example, if you got a chain mail for your magic-user in Spielburg game 1 , that would follow you to Shapeir game 2. If you stock up on healing items in game 2, they do come over to game 3. Don't stock on anything 3 - no items come over past game 4. For the most part, each game won't remember what you did. This is because boolean flags are set in the character's export file for certain events. Also, QFG1 is the only game that had a good ending and a better ending.

Since it's only one line, it was easy to flag. The creators knew this would going to be the last game in the series, and the reasoning to make sure everyone had a chance to play through every route. There are noticeably different things the Paladins do in each game which had the unfortunately affect of making the Fighter feel like Paladin Minus. QFG3 is the game that would allow you to start as a Paladin from the start. But don't feel as if you MUST grind. Grinding will make each game noticeably easier, and I think most people have fun with the game like this, but another way to play is to see how minimal your stats can be when you win.

You will pull lower stats into the next game, but for the most part, there are ways to handle almost every situation even with low stats. The end of QFG2 in particular has a "never-say-die" kind of attitude. Last edited by misterprmiller ; 17 Nov, pm. Thank you, guys! I finished QFG1 just today and started 2 using the fan remaster, i can't stand EGA : I grinded a lot, but it was fun and the game was great.

Thanks for the advice. Importing is a concept that marks the Quest for Glory series as unique among other game series.

Once a Hero completes a game, the option is given to save that Hero for use in future games. The Hero will then be installed in the new game in much the same status as he left the previous game.

Heroes can be imported from any past game in the series to any future games in the series. For example, a Hero can be imported from Quest for Glory I directly to Quest for Glory V without having to necessarily play the three games in between. Heroes cannot be imported from future games to past games, nor can a Hero apart from Quest for Glory IV be imported to the same game that has just been completed. Likewise, a Hero cannot be imported into Quest for Glory I , and although Quest for Glory V gives the option of saving the Hero, there is no practical use for this as of yet.

Imports are saved as SAV files. In the past, it was recommended to save them to a floppy disk so that they could be easily found by simple directory change. With the obsolescence of floppy drives in modern days, it is suggested to save them in the directory that includes the newer game's files. The game will go to this directory first. Quest for Glory V , which standalone engine is not supported by ScummVM, has a specific folder for storing imports.

Various fan editors were created to edit the import SAV files, although many of which were made for older systems and thus became obsolete with time.

Some older editors are archived in sierrahelp. Be warned that mixing skills between character classes can sometimes have unwanted consequences for your character's story progression. For example, in QG2, if you your character's base class is that of a Fighter but you've given him skill in magic and then go on to complete the Mage class' tasks in WIT to become a full wizard , you will be prevented from completing the game using the Fighter's methods and must instead use the Wizard's method of completing the game.

This isn't a fail state by any means, but at the same time it's not a "purists completion", if you will. Similarly, in QG5, if you import or create a Paladin character with thieving skills, you will be unable to start or complete certain Paladin-specific tasks and will be forced to complete certain Thief's tasks.

Given the nature of these quests, while having access to mixed skills does open up additional pathways to solving problems, the story can become somewhat unraveled and may not make as much sense as it would for a more pure character class and you'll definitely me missing out in other areas for both classes.

It leads to some goofy scenarios at best on the one hand, or on the other it can spoil other aspects of the game impacting replayability ; or at worst, it can disqualify your character from progressing into the Paladin class. In general, multi-classing with magic skills is fairly harmless. In fact, "pure" Fighter classes that go on to become a Paladin in QG3 automatically receive low-level skill in magic upon achieving their new rank, giving them access to learn and use magic spells in addition to their innate Paladin skills.

Despite this, it's by no means necessary to grind these skills to their maximum in order to complete the game and you will still be prevented from participating in certain Wizard-class only activities later on in the game and through the series. Fighter classes, however, should avoid taking on Thief class skills if you have any intention of ranking your Fighter up into a Paladin at any point in the series for the reasons mentioned above.

Aside from the often goofy impact it tends to have on the story line, the two classes are fundamentally opposed as a practical matter: the one class being essentially honorless, whereas the other relies heavily on their honor stat to form the core of their abilities. Thieving activities naturally reduce the honor stat and, as discussed earlier, may immediately disqualify any hopeful Fighter from ever becoming a Paladin in the current game.

But they can also cause fully fledged Paladins, imported from previous games, to loose access to their more advanced abilities as and when enough honor points are lost although there are remedies if you're willing to exploit some of the game's programming shortcomings. Just something to keep think about when you consider using mixed classes and, in particular, when you rely on other people's saved files to build your character and QG experience for you.
